To kick start our first topic this year (Frozen Kingdom), year 6 completed an ice experiment! We spent time discussing ice and water and the children learnt how and why ice is less dense than water. The children saw what happens when you put ice in water – it floats and doesn’t sink! We related this learning to icebergs, which is very relevant to our learning in English about the Titanic! The children noticed that although most of the mini-icebergs were under the water surface, they were still floating.
