Summer 2, Week 5
This week Otters and Owls will be learning about…
Printing repeated patterns!

This week in art, the children printed their designs onto their gift bags. First, the children etched their design onto Styrofoam tiles and then rolled ink onto these, before printing a repeated pattern on their bags. The bags all look great – well done year 3!
1st July – This week in the Kangaroos and Koalas we are learning to:
Complementary colours and repeated patterns!

This week in art the children have been looking at the work of Megan Carter. They learnt about complementary colours and thought about how these contrasting colours make patterns more vibrant. We mixed primary colours to make secondary colours.
24th June – This week in the Kangaroos and Koalas we are learning to:
The eruption of Mt Vesuvius!

This week year 3 have identified the features of a newspaper report. The children have been researching the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in Pompeii, in AD79! The children have been thinking about how the earthquake affected the people of Pompeii. In maths, we have been calculating the duration of a start and end time.
17th June – This week in the Kangaroos and Koalas we are learning to:
Volcanoes and earthquakes!!

This week we have drafted, edited and published our recount letters to the Emperor to tell him all about the volcanic eruption in Pompeii. They had a workshop on volcanoes and earthquakes which was really informative. The children have also been completing their assessments and we wanted to say a massive well done to everyone!
