This week, the children have tested the strength of magnets and found objects in the classroom that are magnetic. They have continued their learning of capacity and volume by adding and subtracting units.

Grouping, flowering plants and the Big Bad Wolf

In maths this week, year 1 have been learning how to make equal and unequal groups. The children have also been introduced to their new topic ‘Enchanted Woodland’. In science they have been learning all about flowering plants, deciduous and evergreen trees and animals that live in familiar environments.

Clay, capacity and potions

In art this week, year 1 have been using clay to create their very own 3D animal sculpture. In maths the children have been exploring capacity by making potions that were full, half full, nearly full, half empty, nearly empty and empty.
